GOMINING token, VIP and maintenance discounts: the full ladder

"The maintenance discount" sounds like one number. It's four separate mechanisms with four separate rules, and one of them climbs on its own without you asking — for better or worse.

On the panel and on this calculator, "maintenance discount" is one checkbox. In GoMining's actual system it's four independent discounts that stack: one you earn by holding a balance, one you earn by clicking a button every day, one is set by a weekly vote, and the fourth — the one almost nobody keeps track of — climbs on its own as your fleet grows, whether you notice or not.

Here's each one on its own, with its source and date, and then what the GOMINING token actually is underneath all of it.

The four pieces

Discount Cap How you earn it
GOMINING token balance 20% By holding a balance that covers days of maintenance: 1% per 18 days covered, up to 360 days
VIP level 6% Automatic, from 0.3% (Bronze II) to 6% (Elite) based on your TH or your veGOMINING votes — you don't switch it on
Service button 3% +0.3% per consecutive day you click it in the app, up to 10 days. Miss one day and it resets to zero
Solo mining Variable (≈3%, estimated) You don't earn it: a weekly veGOMINING vote sets it. Doesn't apply to miners in Miner Wars

Source: help.nft.gomining.com/faq/maintenance-fees-and-discounts, verified 29 July 2026. The "solo mining" cap isn't published by GoMining — it's this calculator's own defensive estimate, flagged as such on the panel. The sum of the first three (20 + 6 + 3 = 29%) is the arithmetic ceiling of what's documented, not an official cap announced by GoMining.

All four discounts are already in the calculator
Plug them into "Advanced settings" and see how much they cut your maintenance bill. Code 11jY4 gets you +5% TH on your first purchase.

VIP isn't bought: it's earned with TH or with votes

Of the four, the VIP level is the strangest to understand because there's no button that switches it on. GoMining explains it this way: the discount "depends on the number of TH or veGOMINING votes" you hold. It isn't a subscription plan or something you apply for: it's an automatic consequence of how much power you have mining, or how much voting power you've accumulated.

The only example GoMining publishes is this: someone with 2 miners and 18 TH total sits at Silver I, and needs 7 more TH — 25 TH total — to move up to the next tier. Beyond that, GoMining doesn't publish the full table of which TH amount maps to which tier between Bronze II and Elite: it only confirms the two ends (0.3% and 6%) and that one intermediate example. If you have a more recent exact figure, check it in your own account — nothing gets invented here that isn't documented.

What can be said with that information: your VIP can go up without you doing anything, simply by buying more TH or expanding what you already have. That's the practical reason to check your level in the app every time you grow your fleet — and not assume the % you entered into "Settings" three months ago is still correct today.

What the GOMINING token actually is

Up to this point, the GOMINING token has been treated as "whatever you keep in your account to get the 20%." That's true but incomplete, and the rest explains why the solo mining discount is the only one of the four nobody controls, whether from the user side or from a fixed table.

Every week, Tuesday to Tuesday, a burn-and-mint cycle runs: every token users spent that week paying for maintenance gets burned, and new tokens are minted right after. Those new tokens don't go back to whoever spent them — they're split across four destinations:

  • 65% to hashpower service providers (the infrastructure)
  • 20% as a reward for veGOMINING vote holders
  • 10% allocated however that week's vote decides
  • 5% to the GoMining team

veGOMINING is voting power, and that 10% is exactly where, week by week, it gets decided how to split it: between the extra Solo Mining discount, Miner Wars prizes, Greedy Machines upgrades, and other initiatives. That's why the solo mining discount has no fixed published value: it's literally voted on again every week, and it can go up, down, or disappear depending on what that vote decides. It isn't this calculator failing to find the exact number — the number doesn't exist until it's voted on.

A common mix-up worth clearing up here: GoMining's token trades on CoinGecko as gmt-token (symbol "gomining"). It is not the same GMT as STEPN's, which is a completely unrelated project with the same ticker. If you look up the price by hand, check you're looking at the right project.

All together: how much the bill actually drops

With current network data, here's what the three documented discounts — token maxed out, VIP Elite, and a 10-day streak — change on a reference miner:

Scenario Maintenance/day Net/day
Calculating…

Reference miner: 100 TH at 12 W/TH, electricity at $0.05/kWh. "Maximum discounts" applies the 20% token coverage, the 6% VIP Elite, and the 3% service-button streak (29% total) — it doesn't include the solo mining discount, which has no fixed value for the reason explained above.

The difference isn't symbolic: with these three discounts, the same miner nearly doubles its daily net. And remember what the article on how much to invest for $1,000 a month already covers: the 20% token discount isn't free money — it's capital you move out of miners and into a token whose price moves up and down. VIP and the service-button streak, on the other hand, are genuinely free discount: they don't ask for locked-up capital, only TH or daily consistency.

Summing up

  • It's four discounts, not one, and each is earned differently: covered balance, TH or votes, daily consistency, and a weekly vote.
  • VIP climbs on its own with your TH or your veGOMINING votes — recheck it every time you grow your fleet, not just when you open an account.
  • The GOMINING token isn't just "what you hold for the 20%": every week it's burned and re-minted, and 10% of the new tokens are allocated by a veGOMINING vote that decides, among other things, the solo mining discount.
  • That's why the solo mining discount is genuinely variable, not a figure this site failed to find: it's voted on again every week.
  • GoMining's token on CoinGecko is gmt-token, not STEPN's GMT — two unrelated projects sharing a ticker.
  • The three documented discounts add up to 29%, but that's a sum, not an official cap announced by GoMining.

Plug your own balance, VIP and streak into the calculator to see your own number, or bring them into the fleet dashboard if you want them recalculated automatically every time your fleet changes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move up a VIP tier on GoMining?

You don't apply for it or switch it on: it climbs automatically based on your total TH or your accumulated veGOMINING votes. The only public threshold is one GoMining example: 18 TH equals Silver I, and 7 more TH (25 total) are needed for the next tier. GoMining doesn't publish the full table between Bronze II (0.3%) and Elite (6%).

What is veGOMINING?

It's the GOMINING token's voting power. Every week it decides, among other things, how the 10% of newly minted tokens from the burn-and-mint cycle gets split: between the extra solo mining discount, Miner Wars prizes, Greedy Machines upgrades, and other initiatives.

Do I lose my tokens by paying maintenance with them?

The tokens you spend on maintenance are burned every week in the Tuesday-to-Tuesday cycle. They aren't returned to you specifically: that week's new minting is split across hashpower providers, veGOMINING voters, the 10% the weekly vote allocates, and the GoMining team.

Can the solo mining discount disappear?

Yes. It has no fixed value: a weekly veGOMINING vote sets it, so it can go up, down, or hit zero from one week to the next. It also never applies to miners in Miner Wars mode.

Is the GOMINING token the same as STEPN's GMT?

No. They're two completely unrelated projects that share a ticker. GoMining's trades on CoinGecko under the identifier gmt-token (symbol "gomining"). Worth checking before looking up the price by hand.
